Photodiodes with Thermo-Electric Cooler

Photodiode chip PD24-20 with TO-8 package and three-stage thermo electric cooler TEC3 The company "IBSG" makes photodiodes with single-stage TEC, two-stage TEC2, and three-stage TEC3 thermoelectric modules for stabilization of temperature conditions and deeper cooling in the temperature range -80°C... +25°C. Low operating temperatures make it possible to obtain a significantly lower noise level and increase the specific detectivity of D*. All models of photodiodes with thermoelectric modules are supplied in packages TO-5 (only for one-stage TEC) and TO-8 (for TEC2 and TEC3). The temperature of the photodiode chip can be controlled by a thermistor 10 kOm at T=+20°C. The photodiode design uses a sapphire window. We recommend the use of cooling for IR photodiodes with a diameter of the sensitive area of more than 1 mm, which have a sensitivity in the spectral range of 3-5 μm.

Thermo electric cooler Package Working temperature range
TEC TO-5 (TO-39) or TO-8 −20°C...+25°C
TEC2 TO-8 −50°C...+25°C
TEC3 TO-8 −80°C...+25°C

Photodiode PDXX-YY-TEC2
A photodiode with a two-stage thermoelectric module and an air-cooled radiator.

Amplifier AMTD-07M
Amplifier AMTD-07M is intended for conversion of the output modulated photo-current of the IR photodiode to voltage with its subsequent gain. The device has a built-in thermal controller that allows controlling the two-stage thermoelectric module and measuring the chip temperature in real time. The thermal controller can maintain the photodiode operating temperature from -50°C to +25°C. The value of amplification can vary from 1 to 100. The amplifier has an analog output for connecting external devices (selective amplifiers, oscilloscopes, analog-to-digital converters, etc.). The case AMTD-07M has an input for the sync pulse, which is fed to the built-in sync detector. The DC current from the sync detector is proportional to the signal at the selected measurement frequency. The output signal in absolute terms is reflected on the built-in LCD display of the amplifier. The built-in "ZERO" function allows you to cut off the DC component.
